A weekend of freediving, snorkeling, and wellness for anyone looking to connect with the ocean.

14-17 March, 2025

Join Shannon and Lola for an immersive freediving, snorkelling, and wellbeing retreat in the stunning Jervis Bay this March 2025.

Over the course of 4 days and 3 nights, you'll experience boutique beachside accommodation with breathtaking views of Jervis Bay, NSW. Each day will feature water adventures, wellbeing practices, and deep nature immersion, all designed to enhance your connection to the ocean and yourself.

Our journey begins with a freediving and snorkelling skills session, followed by an ocean orientation in the waters of Jervis Bay. Then, over two days, you'll explore the open waters with Woebegone Freediving, swimming with seals, diving through vast schools of fish, and observing the majestic grey nurse sharks that inhabit the rocky shores of the Great Southern Reef.

In addition to water activities, there will be land-based sessions focused on grounding and nurturing your sense of wellbeing, including guided nature walks, yoga, breathwork for freediving and snorkelling, circles, and journaling.

Meet Shannon, your Salty Guide

Hello! I am the proud founder of The Salty Tribe, where I am passionate about helping people foster a deep connection, boost their confidence, and nurture their care for the underwater world.

With over a decade of experience as a snorkel and dive instructor, educator, conservationist, and more recently as a certified results coach, people I have guided say I have a knack for creating a safe and comfortable environment for them to explore the ocean. But let's not forget, sharks are the true guides!

Sharks have truly transformed my life. From swimming with Great Whites, Bull Sharks, Reef Sharks, Hammerheads, to Whale Sharks around the globe, they have revealed to me the beauty that lies beneath the veil of fear that often surrounds them. One significant moment occurred when I faced anxiety and a panic attack 30 meters below the ocean's surface.

Confronting my own challenges and doubts, I began to embrace and confront my fear which taught me practical ways to manage anxiety and fear. The sharks became catalysts for rediscovering my strength and self-love, which I thought I had lost during that anxious period.

I am thrilled to guide you on a journey where sharks have the power to rock your world too! I firmly believe they are some of the most incredible teachers when it comes to fear and serve as indicators of our planet's well-being.

I am so grateful to introduce my fellow shark lover and ocean extraordinaire Hannah Maloney who will be joining us!

Meet Lola

Lola Broomhall is a water-baby. From her early days refusing to leave the bath as a toddler, to refusing to leave the pool after swim lessons, to refusing to leave the beach on family holidays - Lola has always loved being in the water. She lives on the Mornington Peninsula and spends her spare time immersing in the bay and the rockpools of the back beaches close to her home.

Lola has a deep appreciation for nature and her gifts, and understands how important it is for people to connect into these gifts on a regular basis in order to cultivate a healthy body-mind-and-spirit. And she loves sharing moments of connection with people. She is only too aware of how important the ocean is for healing and inner-work after experiencing her own personal challenges and difficulties. The ocean was where she felt able to connect back into herself and reset. These days Lola cannot imagine her life without the beautiful and therapeutic effects of being in the ocean in some format - from taking a cold dip, to freediving, and even mermaiding!

As a qualified physiotherapist, and yoga, pilates and breathwork instructor - Lola has a passion for helping people cultivate health and wellbeing. She takes a holistic approach to her work and loves nothing more than teaching people tools that empower them to take care of themeslves. So alongside typical physiotherapy interventions she often prescribes clifftop beach walks, ocean grounding exercises, and cold water immersion or even pier jumps for clients! In addition to clinical work Lola teaches regular yoga and breathwork classes, and special breath workshops for freedivers and surfers.

Lola is a Master Level PADI freediver and PADI Mermaid Instructor. She is trained in the Bradcliff breathing Method and has a 200hr YTT certificate and APPI Pilates certifications.
